Viper, Autumn/Winter 22
The new era of Viper has begun, with the AW22 edition marking our return to print! Celebrating with us are cover stars, Adekunle Gold, Ella Mai, M Huncho and J.I!
In this Issue:
Hailing from the Empire State, we caught up with J.I on his first trip to London to hear about his love for the city, as he described the charming qualities of noisy drunks walking the streets. He also dropped some gems on his journey into the industry and how to stay humble. We linked with Ella Mai for the first time in four years for this stunning cover shoot In East London. With R&B in its most exciting place in a long time, it’s amazing to see a British woman at the forefront, even in the US. With her sophomore album released just after our shoot, we were lucky to get the sneak peek and I loved speaking to her about including Mary J. Blige in the experience.
M Huncho met us on the Viper set, fresh off the back of the release of his incredible debut album, ‘Chasing Euphoria’. The shoot was one of our favourites ever, with a film noir visual style that we’ve never experimented with before. As one of the stand out artists in the UK scene, we admire how his sound has stayed so unique and true to his artistry. The interview was eye-opening and gave us a stronger appreciation for his music. Likewise Nigerian superstar Adekunle Gold is a joy to be around, we loved our cover shoot with him - which was completed in record time! His vibe is as infectious as his music. The photos, by our creative director Eddie Cheaba, are electric, with an epic contrast of colours.
The AW22 issue is packed full of our favourite artists, repping multiple genres and scenes. One of the stand out names in UK Drill, DoRoad makes an appearance and describes the experience of being christened by Section Boyz. His recent collaborator Stay Flee Get Lizzy also shows face, in an interview in which he reveals exciting news about his forthcoming album. We’re still recovering from his answer when asked what his dream collaboration is - it’s that good.
M1 on the Beat is one of our favourite personalities in music; he’s a ball of energy, plus very free-thinking and uninfluenced by others. As a producer, he’s just getting started - despite the fact his credits boast some of the biggest names from the UK and beyond. As soon as VIPER tapped into the Bronx Drill scene, B-Lovee quickly became a favourite alongside his musical bestie, Kay Flock. In less than a year, his career has blown up thanks to the viral reach of ‘My Everything’ and most recently a collaboration with their hometown hero, Cardi B. Our interview was a fun chat which ended with me putting him on to Indian Drill.
We shot Ghanaian musician, Kwesi Arthur, in LA for this issue, so it was a joy to see the colours of his country’s flag represented within the photoshoot. He’s been creating a major buzz globally for the past couple of years and with his debut album dropping this Spring, he’s showing no signs of slowing down. Snoochie Shy’s been a friend of VIPER since the early days of her radio career and it’s inspiring to see her reach the heights she has achieved both as a presenter and as a DJ. Having appeared on I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! in late 2021, the experience saw her reveal the birth mark on her face that she’d been hiding throughout her career.
Formerly known as Buju, Nigerian artist BNXN has been enjoying an incredible year, with his Wizkid collaboration, ‘Mood’ becoming one of the biggest songs of 2022. With a name change taking place during this run, we spoke to him about the start of this new era. P-rallel has been making waves in the UK scene for years as a DJ and producer. Fresh off the back of his ‘Forward’ project, we spoke to him about the current state of the alternative Rap scene in the UK. And finally we have a stunning photography editorial of BLXST, by our creative director Eddie Cheaba.

Where are we?
Disko is in Cambridge, Ontario. It's about an hour west of Toronto. We're specifically located in the Galt area, which is a beautiful old downtown with nice shops. It's worth the drive.
