About Weedy Zine:
Phragmites australis, or common reed, is a tall perennial grass often seen along wetlands, lakeshores, and in the ditches along urban highways. In many parts of North America, it is labelled an invasive species because of its ability to spread aggressively and displace other plants. In this conversation, we look at Phragmites australis as an entryway, a portal, and a meeting point for us to locate ourselves through shifting geographies. "Weedy: An Extended Studio Visit" picks up a conversation between Shalaka Jadhav and Bhavika Sharma from 2024, tracing relationships to land and belonging through weedy ecologies, migration, and “study” as collaborative practice.

Where are we?
Disko is in Cambridge, Ontario. It's about an hour west of Toronto. We're specifically located in the Galt area, which is a beautiful old downtown with nice shops. It's worth the drive.
